We
will identify the decade (years 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, or 31-40) for first
appearance of a mental disorder in van Gogh. |
||||||
| * Six medical crises during the last two years will be defined. This includes establishing dates for the beginning (onset) and ending (resolution) of each crisis. | |||||||
| *
Connecting events will be referenced with a view towards identifying immediate
causes (the precipitating factors), that brought on (initiated) these
periods of serious illness. |
|||||||
| * During these crises Vincent did not engage in artistic work (no painting or drawing has been dated within the periods of the crises) and for the most part he did not write letters during his crises. The crises were attended with incapacitation and debilitation. | |||||||
| *
We will also explore the intervening periods (between successive crises)
of wellness, when van Gogh was creating masterpieces and writing beautiful
letters, and look for any indication of periodicity (constancy or trend
in duration).
