| __This program is an introduction
to orthopedic hardware, designed as an aid to radiological interpretation. There
are
three main section: 1) Basic Principles is a description
of the main concepts of orthopedic hardware. Since the most general use
of orthopedic hardware is for fractures, there is a separate discussion
of the use of orthopedic hardware with fractures. Hardware terminology
and classifications are described, 2) An Atlas of Orthopedic
Hardware arranges hardware into general and specific categories. The
latter are arranged by anatomic location into joint replacement and
spinal hardware. Photographs of hardware
along with radiographic examples of implanted hardware are shown, 3) Glossary of Orthopedic
Terms gives descriptions of orthopedic hardware and other orthopedic
related items. Several terms that are only briefly described in the first
two sections have further descriptions in the glossary. The Overview Page,
accessed by the NEXT link below, is the central link to these modules.
