VISION

The fulfillment of CRCM aspirations
will continue to be achieved because of the Center's vision, which includes
the
development of a team of outstanding medical
investigators (scientists and clinicians) from a
variety of disciplines who can work together such
that the product of their endeavors is greater than
the sum of their individual efforts.
This synergy will result from studies that combine
state-of-the-art techniques in molecular biology
focused on genetics and cell biology with clinical
and outcomes research. Integral to this approach
is
that the CRCM be both a center "with and without
walls". With this dual structure, the
CRCM can assure that productive research opportunities
will
extend beyond its boundaries to encompass local,
regional, national and international collaborations.
The success
and direction of the CRCM will be measured by its
ability to adhere to a basic philosophic tenet.
This principle is that the research to be conducted
in and supported by the CRCM must be primarily
relevant to the needs of the community that the
Hospital, Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State
University serve. If we are true to this purpose,
then the CRCM will fulfill both its local mandate
and its
global responsibility and become a leading pediatric
research center.
