Student Services and Support

Course Materials

The duplication and distribution of curriculum guides, course packs and laboratory manuals are handled through Conjoint Teaching.  Distribution of materials is usually handled in one of three ways, notes are placed in student mailboxes, in the lecture hall before a specific lecture, or they are made available for pick-up in the Conjoint Teaching office.

Listserv Communication Services, Support and Policy

Students use the class listserv for meeting announcements and updates, lecture material questions, student surveys, etc.  Faculty and staff use the listservs to answer student questions, announce schedule changes and updates, exam logistics, invitations to seminars/educational conferences, schedule changes and updates.  Students are automatically subscribed to the lists upon matriculation.  Questions or problems with listserv subscriptions should be directed to mspeece@med.wayne.edu or call 313-577-1470.

The policy that governs the use of the listserv is as follows:

Information posted to the listserv should be relevant to the educational mission of the school.  Appropriate information includes: Exam logistics, schedule changes, meeting and event information (both student organization and department sponsored events), questions and answers related to coursework and administrative announcements.  Inappropriate messages include:  Personal, one-to-one communications, product endorsements (i.e., board review study courses, booksellers, etc.) messages that insult, malign or are disrespectful.

Exams

The division works with the Standardized Patient Program to prepare and administer the Year III Objective Structure Clinical Exam. The Conjoint staff proctor written first and second year medical student examinations and provides support for practical exam administrations. First and second year exam exam scoring and statistical analysis is done through the Curriculum Manager and the testing department. For information regarding exam scores please contact Dr. Mark Speece, Curriculum Manager.
