What type of files do you accept for printing large-format posters?

The most common file type for large format poster printing is Microsoft PowerPoint® (.ppt).  However, we can print the following types of files:

  • Adobe Illustrator® (.ai)
  • Adobe Photoshop® (.psd)
  • Adobe InDesign® (.indd)
  • Adobe PDF® (.pdf)
  • EPS (Encapsulated Post Script, .eps)
  • QuarkXPress® (.qxd, .qxp)
  • Macromedia Freehand® (.fh - .fh11)
  • Microsoft Word®  (.doc)

If there is a file you you need printed that is not on this list, chances are that we can help you.  Just call us and ask!  313-577-1482

How do I make sure my fonts show up when sending my file to be printed?

If you are using non-standard fonts or special screen fonts, they must be included with your project file or else they will not show up properly and the program will use the computer's default font.  If you are using QuarkXPress®, Adobe InDesign®, Adobe Illustrator® or Freehand®, you will need to “collect for output” all the linked project files, including images and fonts in order for your artwork to print properly.

What type of paper do you have for printing large-format?

Large format paper options are: Heavy Weight paper, High-Gloss paper, Semi-Gloss paper, Tyvek and Vinyl.  There are many other papers available that are used for projects.  Swatches are available to view at our reception counter.  Lamination is also available up to a 4x8 foot size.  Our pricing information is available here

What colors are available for large-format printing?

We can print Black & White and the four process colors used in offset printing (Cyan [C], Magenta [M], Yellow [Y]and Black [K]).   When these four colors are printed with halftone screens of various angles in this subtractive print method, they create oranges, reds, violets, and so on.

What resolution should I have my images for printing?

It is highly suggested that 300dpi is used for printing.   Web graphics are discouraged because they are low-resolution 72dpi images that will print poorly.
