Message from the Chair

The Department of Anesthesiology Division of Research, Wayne State University, is distinguished by its commitment to providing quality education in accordance with good clinical practice, developing and teaching appropriate standards of clinical care, and comprehensive anesthesia patient-care techniques based on available evidence for patient benefit.

Our physicians, faculty, residents, fellows and other department staff are, therefore, actively engaged in a wide range of medical research including corporate sponsored and non‑corporate sponsored clinical research trials.  Clinical and basic medical research is an important component in the clinical and educational setting and is collaboratively integrated with clinical practice in seven Detroit Medical Center hospitals and health-services partner, the Karmanos Cancer Institute.
