GELATIN

2.5%:

5 g gelatin
0.1 g chrcomium poltassium sulphate (chrom alum)
200 ml dH2O

5%:

10 g gelatin
0.1 g chrom alum
200 ml dH2O

0.5%:

1 g gelatin
0.1 g chrom alum
200 ml dH2O

Add gelation to 250 ml flask, then add water. Bring to a boil. Add chrom alum and a few crystals of thymol. When dissolved, let cool tc. 40°C. Pour into large staining dish on hot plate (maintain at 40°C). Immerse slides previously cleaned with alcohol- dip, let bubbles rise, remove. Air dry for 1/2 hr. on diaper. Cover, and air dry for 2 days.

CLEANING SLIDES FOR SUBBING

1. place slides in slide racks

2. wash in hot soapy water for 1 hour: agitate every 10 min.

3. rinse 1/2 -1 hour in warm running tap water

4. rub with 95% alcohol, use Kimwipes

Optional :

5. rinse 1/2 -1 hour- in warm running tap water

6.rinse 1/2 -1 hour- in running dH2O
