• Occasionally, after bequeathing their body, a donor wishes to withdraw from the program. This can only be revoked by the donor, NOT the next of kin. A signed letter stating the revocation of the bequest should be sent to the Body Bequest Program, Department of Anatomy, Wayne State University School of Medicine, whereupon the bequest form will be returned to the donor.

  • The execution of a body donation form is that of a will and is legally binding. However, if at the time of death, the bequest has not been revoked by the donor, and the family wishes to make other funeral arrangements, it has been the policy of the University to comply with the wishes of the family.
