Welcome! AMSA is the
organization that will allow you to hold on to the ideals that
brought you to medicine. With over 68,000 members and 1,700 in
Michigan alone, as a national organization, AMSA is the largest and
oldest independent organization of medical students. It gains its
strength by giving power to medical students to take action and
create change about issues that they care about. It's the presence
of visionary medical students and our energy that makes AMSA such a
powerful organization.
The Wayne State University
AMSA chapter sponsors many of our own events in addition to those
offered by the National organization. Our Action Committees are
actively involved in education and healthcare on a local and global
level, and organize events ranging from Primary Care Week, to
initiating a local project art exhibit, People of Detroit, a Living
Project, that has become nationally known about, which uses
photography to increase awareness about health disparities people in
Detroit face. This year we are working on the Faces of America
Documentary Project.
