Constitution of the Wayne State University Chapter of the American Medical Association Medical Student Section
(AMA-MSS-WSU)
Article I
The name of this organization is the Wayne State
University Chapter of the American Medical Association Medical Student
Section. It is a constituent chapter of
the Medical Student Section of the American Medical Association, the Michigan
State Medical Society, and the Wayne County Medical Society.
Article II
The objects of the Chapter
are to promote the science and art of medicine, the betterment of public
health, and to represent the issues particular to the medical students at the
Wayne State University School of Medicine.
Article III
The Wayne State University Chapter of the
American Medical Association Medical Student Section shall be composed of
medical students enrolled at the Wayne State University School of Medicine who
are members of the State and Component Societies of the American Medical
Association, as provided for in the Bylaws of the Chapter.
Article IV
The governing body of the Chapter shall be the
Executive Board, which shall be composed of elected members as provided for in
the Bylaws.
Article V
The Officers of the Chapter shall consist of a
President, a Vice-President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, two Representatives to
the American Medical Association-Medical Student Section House of Delegates,
three Representatives to the Michigan State Medical Society, two Representatives
to the Wayne County Medical Society, and one Public Relations Officer. The above positions shall be described and
regulated as set forth in the Bylaws.
Article VI
Meetings of the Executive Board shall be
conducted as described in the Bylaws.
Meetings of the General Membership shall be held as determined by the
Bylaws.
Article VII
Funds may be raised by dues, alternative assessments or fundraising activities as provided for in the Bylaws, and per the decision of the Executive Board.
Article VIII
Amendments to this constitution may be made, provided that they shall be presented at the preceding meeting of the Executive Board, and approved by at least a two-thirds vote of the present members of the Executive Board.
