Medical Alumni Reunion Day set for May 12
The Wayne State University School of Medicine Alumni Association is pleased to present the 2012 Medical Alumni Reunion, Connect the Docs. This day of learning, visiting and recognition will provide a great way to revitalize the spirit of your experience at the School of Medicine and reaffirm your lifetime commitment to your profession and your school. It includes a continental breakfast, the Dr. Morris S. Brent Lectureship, reunion luncheon, tours of the medical school, special reunions for classes ending in 2s and 7s, followed by a dinner and awards program. VIP Medical Alumni eventDon’t settle for watching fireworks in a huge crowd or on television. This year, join the School of Medicine Alumni Association-hosted 2012 Fireworks Extravaganza, which will be held during the Detroit Target Fireworks. You and your family will get VIP treatment and have up-close seats on the Renaissance Center Riverfront Terrace. While everyone else is scrambling for a good spot to watch the show, you will enjoy convenient parking, a full dinner buffet and games for the kids. Alumni Spotlight – John Bizon, M.D., F.A.C.S., Class of 1977
John Bizon, M.D., F.A.C.S.John Bizon, M.D., F.A.C.S., a Battle Creek otolaryngologist and member of the Bronson Battle Creek medical staff, was chosen president of the Michigan State Medical Society Board of Directors at the recent 2012 House of Delegates meeting recently. In his speech to delegates, Dr. Bizon, a 1977 graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine, identified numerous critical public policy reforms he believes are important to making Michigan the best state in the nation for quality patient care.

Student Groups Collaborate to Produce Seminar Series on Health Disparities
Make a gift today!A coalition of student organizations at the Wayne State University School of Medicine is collaborating to make issues surrounding health disparities and socio-health equity a larger part of the learning experience. The Wayne State University School of Medicine student chapters of the American Medical Student Association, Amigos Medicos, the American Medical Association, the Black Medical Association and Student Sight Savers have banded together to focus on health disparities by launching a series of seminars.

Health Event Celebrates National Women’s Health Week
In celebration of National Women’s Health Week, the School of Medicine and the Wayne State University Physician Group are hosting the “Ladies Night Out Health Crawl,” a free community health event your patients, friends or family members are welcome to attend. The Health Crawl is 6 to 8 p.m. May 17 at Scott Hall. The event aims to empower women of all ages and backgrounds to make their health a top priority.
