NotesSeemant Chaturvedi, MD, associate professor of neurology, gave a presentation at the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis meeting this fall. He also gave a lecture on "Carotid Endarterectomy for Stroke Prevention" at the 1999 North American Stroke meeting in Aspen, Colo. Joseph Dogariu, PhD, director of admissions at the WSU School of Medicine, has been selected to serve on the MCAT Program Review Advisory Committee of the Association of American Medical Colleges. Larry Fleischmann, MD, professor of pediatrics, has been appointed senior vice president for Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Richard Gallagher, PhD, professor of family medicine, has been named president-elect of the American Association for Cancer Education (AACE). He will assume the presidency at the AACE’s annual meeting in November, 2000. Stephen Krawetz, PhD, associate professor in ob/gyn and the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics, has edited a book entitled, "Bioinformatics Methods and Protocols," which is published by Humana Press and is the first book to formally address how to teach bioinformatics. Other School of Medicine contributors are: Dr. David Womble, Kier Reavie, Dr. Yuval Yaron, Dr. Jeffrey Kramer and Dr. Gautam Singh. Steven Levine, MD, professor of neurology, is co-chair of Operation Stroke, an American Heart Association stroke campaign that includes professional education and lay education about the emergency status of stroke treatment. James Moseley, EdD, associate professor of community medicine, co-authored a management book entitled "Why Employees Do What They Do: Human Performance Technology in the Workplace." He also earned a master of science in administration (management/health services administration) from Central Michigan University. David Rosenberg, MD, associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral neurosciences, was the keynote speaker at the seventh annual Medical College of Ohio Research Symposium on Psychiatry, Psychology and Behavioral Science.
