Honors

Anthony Alcantara, MD, assistant professor of radiology, won an academic excellence award from StudyWeb.com for providing radiology education resources. He also received a grant to develop a section on anatomy modules. (See www.med.wayne.edu/diag Radiology/wsuhomepage.html)

Seemant Chaturvedi, MD, associate professor of neurology, was named to the operations committee of the Warfarin vs. Aspirin Symptomatic Intracranial Disease Study. Wayne State University, under Dr. Chaturvedi’s direction, was also commended for achieving the third highest enrollment of all sites in the nation.

Michael Cher, MD, assistant professor of urology and pathology, won the Pierre Fabre Medicament Prize (first prize) for the best prostate cancer research at the Third World Congress on Urological Research. The award was presented by the Association pour la Recherche sur les Tumeurs de la Prostate.

Amy DiCresce, public affairs, has received an Award of Distinction in Medical Education Public Affairs, given by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Institutional Advancement. Her story, "Living Among the Dead," was published in Wayne Medicine magazine and was honored with a AAMC Robert G. Fenley Writing Award.

James Moseley, EdD, associate professor of community medicine, was honored with the 1999 Premier Award from the Michigan Chapter of the International Society for Performance Improvement, which recognizes him as an outstanding graduate student mentor.
