Reminiscences of Wayne

A newly published book reflects on Wayne State University’s evolution from a municipal college to a state university. Reminiscences of Wayne shares the fond memories of faculty, administrators and staff to tell the story of Wayne State’s growth and progress through the 1990s.

Select WSU retirees were asked to submit essays describing their careers and memories. The collection presents a diverse view of the university including the development of the Hilberry Theatre, the University Press, the importance of labor relations, athletics, and medical school programs. Contributors from the School of Medicine include Drs. L. Murray Thomas, Charles Whitten and the late Lawrence Weiner.

The book is co-edited by Wayne State retirees Henry Bohm, former provost and emeritus professor of physics, and Paul Pentecost, former public relations director and alumni editor.
