A
newly published book reflects on Wayne State University’s evolution from a
municipal college to a state university. Reminiscences
of Wayne shares the fond memories of faculty, administrators and staff to
tell the story of Wayne State’s growth and progress through the 1990s. Select
WSU retirees were asked to submit essays describing their careers and memories.
The collection presents a diverse view of the university including the
development of the Hilberry Theatre, the University Press, the importance of
labor relations, athletics, and medical school programs. Contributors from the
School of Medicine include Drs. L. Murray Thomas, Charles Whitten and the late
Lawrence Weiner. The
book is co-edited by Wayne State retirees Henry Bohm, former provost and
emeritus professor of physics, and Paul Pentecost, former public relations
director and alumni editor. To
