Annual Telefund preparations underway

The dates have been set for the 27th Alumni Annual Telefund. With new strategies and improved planning, organizers of the 1999/2000 Telefund hope to surpass last year’s successful $436,000 pledge total. Alumni will also have the opportunity to give early again this year and not be called during the Telefund by responding to a pre-letter that will be mailed in September.

Following are some of the programs and activities that will be supported by money raised from the 1998/99 Alumni Annual Fund:

-Medical Student Scholarships

-Student Activities and Programs such as Freshman Orientation Week, Match Day, Family Day, Career Day, Student Senate Retreat and maintenance of the Fitness Room

-Graduate Research Programs such as Student Summer Research Fellowships, MD, PhD, Scholarship Support, student research project reports during research week

-The Charles Whitten, MD, Post Baccalaureate Endowment Fund

-and the alumni affairs office, and its programs and activities for alumni and students

The success of the Telefund is contingent on the number of volunteers. If you would like to help during the Telefund, please join us for the Telefund Kick-Off reception at the Excalibur Banquet Center in Southfield on October 6. To receive an invitation, call the alumni affairs office at (313) 577-3587.

The Telefund will take place on the following evenings:

October 18, 19, 20

October 26, 27

November 2, 4

November 8, 9, 10

You can volunteer to be a Telefund caller today by phoning (313) 577–1474, or if you’re in the School of Medicine area, stop by Room 1128, Scott Hall.
