Husseini Manji, MD, associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral neurosciences, participated in a conference, "The Effects of Medical Interventions on Suicidal Behavior," which established consensus that lithium is the only treatment clinically proven to reduce suicidal behavior.
Brian Mason, MD, assistant professor of ob/gyn, performed an obstetrical breakthrough, using an innovative set of procedures which had previously only been documented on full-term fetuses with normal amniotic levels. Dr. Mason delivered a premature, breech child who had only half the normal amniotic fluids. He was featured in the Grosse Pointe News.
Ramzi Mohammad, PhD, assistant professor of internal medicine, was the lead author on a study published in the journal Pancreas. Dr. Mohammad and his colleagues established the first pancreatic tumor cell line, a new research tool to battle pancreatic cancer.
