WSU Recognized As Founding Member of
AAMC

Dr. Jane Thomas represents WSU at the AAMC’s 125th
anniversary celebration. |
In 2001, the Association of American
Medical Colleges (AAMC) celebrated its 125th anniversary. As
one of the AAMC’s founding members, the Wayne State University School of
Medicine participated in a special procession during the 112th annual
meeting last fall.
In 1876, the Detroit Medical College
(which later became the WSU School of Medicine) was represented by
Professors E. W. Jenks and L. Connor. In 2001, WSU was represented by Jane
Thomas, PhD, assistant dean for student affairs, who carried the school’s
flag during the founders procession.
The AAMC represents the 125 accredited
U.S. medical schools which serve some 67,000 medical students and 102,000
residents. |
