The President's Greeting

Thomas Ditkoff, MD,
‘71 President
Wayne State University
Medical Alumni Association

Greetings and Happy New Year on behalf of the Wayne State University School of Medicine Alumni Association Board of Governors.

The Alumni Association has developed several new programs over the past year.  On July 30, 2001, we welcomed the class of 2005 to our school by presenting them with honorary membership in the Alumni Association.  This is a new program that we hope will serve as a wonderful introduction to the school and our association.

On August 4, 2001, I participated in the Student Orientation and Welcome Ceremony.  I was pleased to meet the Class of 2005 and to experience their excitement and enthusiasm on their first day of medical school.  As alumni, we share so many wonderful memories with our new students.

This year, the Alumni Board of Governors is focusing on re-energizing the Alumni Association.  We are currently re-designing our largest annual event, Medical Alumni Reunion Weekend.  In an effort to make the program more attractive for you, we will condense Reunion Weekend into a one-day event, which will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2002.  Please mark your calendar.

Finally, I would like to remind you that we are still accepting donations for the 2001 Alumni Annual Telefund.  Please contact Ms. Janus Landrum in the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs at (313) 577-8117 if you would like to make a donation.  Due, in part, to world events and a sluggish economy, we have found the 2001 Alumni Annual Telefund to be especially challenging.  We are counting on your support - as donors and volunteers.

We look forward to another productive year of improving our students’ educational experience and strengthening the school’s alumni network.

The President's Greeting
