This year’s Heritage Night recognized individuals who have generously contributed to the School of Medicine. The event was held April 28 at the Detroit Public Library, where 220 guests enjoyed beautiful surroundings and the company of fellow WSU supporters.

During the welcome reception, guests toured the Burton Historical Collection. This collection is one of the most impressive of its kind and includes original letters penned by Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Diaries and other papers by such notables as Anthony Wayne and Lewis Cass were also available for viewing.

Strohm Hall was an elegant setting for dinner. It was awash with French white tulips and dogwood as guests were entertained by the James Hughes Jazz Combo and the energetic singing of the “Ultrasounds,” comprised of School of Medicine students. Dean John Crissman and President Irvin Reid also had an opportunity to share news of the university and personally thank contributors.
