Pathfinders To Be Honored at Comerica Park’s Tiger Club

Members of the Pathfinders in Medicine committee meet to discuss plans for the upcoming gala event. Seated, from the left, are Cleveland Hurst, Alyssa Martina and Pathfinders Committee Chair, Taylor Lewis, MD, ’78. Standing, from left to right, are RosEurek Fagin, Robert Johnson and Yalonda Jackson.

Planning began last fall for the second annual Pathfinders in Medicine Awards, a celebration of outstanding leadership and vision in advancing medicine, scientific research and the availability of health care. The Pathfinders committee of alumni, School of Medicine administration and staff, students, and business leaders has chosen women’s health as the focus of the 2001 awards, to be presented on May 17. A reception and dinner will honor the accomplishments of five exemplary individuals. Joan Stryker, MD, Kamran Moghissi, MD, Julius Combs, MD, and Mary Fisher will receive awards. Charles Vincent, MD, will be honored posthumously.

Detroit TV news personality Doris Biscoe, of WXYZ Channel 7, will serve as the emcee.  Biscoe, formerly a station anchor, currently writes, produces and appears in long-form programs for the ABC affiliate and has her own marketing firm, DB Communications.

Proceeds from the evening will support student scholarship endowment funds at the School of Medicine. Tickets are $125 each. For more information, contact Ginger Hrtanek, Office of Development and Alumni Affairs, 313-577-5230.
