As the calendar year slips into the last months of 2000, the time is right for reviewing strategic financial plans. The Office of Development and Alumni Affairs’ new planned giving officer, Leslie White-Jones, JD, comes to the School of Medicine from the Detroit Medical Center. Her legal training and experience equip her to help donors make the most of their gifts to the school. According to White-Jones, “Planned giving, an important part of overall estate planning, is appropriate for everyone. We all want to find ways to minimize our taxes, get the most out of our investments, plan effectively for retirement, and identify the best ways to support our families as well as organizations and institutions that are important to us.” Alumni and friends will be invited to attend an informal dinner and program at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham on October 19. Robert Kass, JD, a respected attorney with special expertise in this area, will discuss several frequently overlooked aspects of estate planning. Call (313) 577-1474 for further information.
