New members join board The School of Medicine welcomes six alumni to the Medical Alumni Association Board of Governors. Appointed to join 25 other alums on the board are Drs. Paul Chuba, Carol Clark, William O’Neill, Earl Rudner, Les Siegel, and Hillary Timmis. The association and the school extend thanks for their service.

| Paul Chuba, MD, ’92, PhD, a radiation oncologist, received his advanced degrees and residency training at Wayne State University. He holds staff privileges at Detroit’s St. John Hospital & Medical Center within the St. John Health System. Research active, Dr. Chuba has published more than 50 articles and book chapters. His professional association memberships include the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology, the American College of Radiation Oncology and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. |

| William O’Neill, MD, ’77, directs the division of cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Mich. and co-directs Beaumont’s Schlafer Cardiology Center. Following a residency at WSU, he completed the University of Michigan Cardiology Fellowship program and served as a faculty member in Ann Arbor from 1982 to 1987, rising from instructor to associate professor. He also directed the U of M Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories. Actively involved in professional organizations, Dr. O’Neill also is a productive researcher, holds editorial positions and is a scientific reviewer for the New England Journal of Medicine and other major medical periodicals. |

| Earl Rudner, MD, ’59, is vice chair of the department of dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Following internship at Detroit Sinai Hospital, he served for two years in the United States Army as a preventive medicine officer stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Dr. Rudner completed a dermatology residency at WSU and a fellowship at St. John’s Hospital in London, England. Currently an associate clinical professor of dermatology at the School of Medicine, he has previously served the Medical Alumni Association in leadership roles as board member and president. Dr. Rudner has also been honored for his service with the school’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. |

Les Siegel, MD, ’80, came to the WSU School of Medicine after completing his undergraduate degree at Michigan State University. He received residency training in ophthalmology at the Kresge Eye Institute, followed by a fellowship at Washington University, St. Louis. Dr. Siegel is in private practice, exclusively involved with glaucoma patients. He holds an appointment as assistant clinical professor at the School of Medicine. |

Hillary Timmis, MD, ’56, received his post-graduate medical training, including a residency in general and cardiothoracic surgery, at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. After serving as an associate professor of surgery at the University of Mississippi, Dr. Timmis returned to Michigan in 1972. An emeritus staff member of William Beaumont Hospital, he is also an honorary staff member of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital – Oakland. Dr. Timmis also holds an appointment as clinical associate professor of surgery at the School of Medicine. |
